Employer approval alone is not the spouse’s work permission. A qualifying L spouse may work incident to valid status with appropriate evidence; verify the actual record first.
Keep the spouse’s role and status distinct
Dependent eligibility may cover an eligible spouse and unmarried children under 21, but children do not receive the spouse authorization. The principal’s L-1B approval and course assignment do not grant the spouse’s admission or extend their authorized dates. Any separate professional requirements also concern the actual teaching activity.
Once L-1B status is approved based on the specialist's company-specific procedure knowledge, family members qualify for L-2 status through their relationship to the specialist, not through any separate evaluation of the underlying specialized-knowledge claim. The principal’s case also must document the required uninterrupted twelve-month foreign employment period, qualifying related organizations that conduct business, and specialized knowledge of company products or advanced company procedures. Each family member holds whatever status was actually granted to that person, with its own validity period and its own permitted activities; nothing is inherited from the principal’s travel pattern.
