Should the employer order another full TN package before the new consulting duties are assessed?

THE DIRECT ANSWER

A focused review of the changed work can identify the scope actually needed. Do not assume repeating the earlier package will resolve a different professional arrangement.

Separate role assessment from copying the old file

Ask what a quote covers: reviewing the change, obtaining updated evidence, professional representation and official charges. Verify current government fees for the process selected. A past successful filing may reduce some document gathering but does not prove current eligibility. Avoid paying for a renamed version of the old offer before the applicant and client describe the real new responsibilities.

Degrees from institutions outside Canada, Mexico and the United States require a reliable foreign-credential evaluation for the TN degree evidence; that should not be confused with the separate health-care certification. A port-of-entry TN application carries a modest admission charge, while an employer's Form I-129 petition carries USCIS filing fees set out in the G-1055 fee schedule; check the current figures rather than relying on a colleague's memory from a previous year. The immigration side is inexpensive: a Canadian citizen may apply at a port of entry with the charge collected there, or an employer may file a petition carrying the fee shown in the current schedule, with premium processing available where timing is tight.
