Start with the GOLD CARD eligibility and application overview

01

Use the actual family-eligibility assessment

The official terms address an eligible spouse and unmarried children under 21, with initial inclusion recommended. Applicable child-age protections require case-specific assessment; do not promise that sending a fee universally freezes age or guarantees derivative eligibility. A school year, birthday and official processing event are different dates.

02

Budget the correct sponsorship structure

Current official terms specify US$15,000 nonrefundable processing per person. After successful vetting and official instructions, the principal gift is US$1 million individually or US$2 million per corporate-sponsored employee. Each intended eligible joining spouse or unmarried child under 21 adds US$15,000 and a US$1 million gift, including under corporate sponsorship. Corporate terms also include 1% annual maintenance and 5% transfer with a new background check; transfer does not automatically approve a replacement employee.

03

Separate payment from the immigration outcome

Gold Card involves a government gift and potential permanent residence through EB-1 or EB-2 as appropriately determined, subject to eligibility, admissibility and visa availability. It is not an EB-5 business investment with a job-creation model. A fee receipt or completed gift does not confer present work permission, guarantee an admission date or establish citizenship. Follow actual official requests and payment instructions rather than a private timetable.

04

Identify the actual sponsor and employee proposal

Determine whether the proposed payment purchases shares, property or a loan claim, pays an adviser or makes the instructed government gift. The official programme also describes possible State Department fees and medical-examination payments, with actual instructions depending on the applicant’s circumstances. Confirm the recipient of a payment directly from the official source, not from a forwarded message, and keep a record that distinguishes any processing charge from other payments. Verify the destination through the official channel itself, and keep the instruction, the confirmation and the correspondence, because a payment made to the wrong recipient is generally not recoverable. Prior immigration history, criminal records and health grounds are examined in the vetting the program describes. When an official instruction calls for payment, match the named applicant, payor, amount and recipient before funds move. The first review should identify the sponsor, employee, funding responsibility and any later replacement proposal without assuming a company payment erases the employee’s individual screening. The decision is whether the applicant can satisfy the announced framework and the underlying immigration conditions, not whether a third party describes the payment as a shortcut.

05

Check the immigrant-category requirements still apply

The program's requirements, amounts and family provisions have been announced and revised through official channels, so a description accurate one month may be incomplete the next. The framework operates through classifications that already exist in employment-based immigration, in the first and second preference categories, rather than creating a new visa of its own. The qualifying gift has its specified evidentiary role, while permanent-resident eligibility, admissibility and visa availability still apply. Treat Gold Card as its own government route: it is based on a payment by the applicant to the U.S. government after the required process, not a conventional visa. Executive Order 14351 directs the agencies to treat the Gold Card gift as evidence of eligibility under the specified EB-1 or EB-2 basis, so the program should not be described as requiring an additional, independent conventional career showing. List the questions a payment cannot answer: whether the applicant is admissible, whether an old refusal or removal order still bites, whether a criminal record requires a waiver, and whether the immigrant category will be current when the case reaches that stage. Keep official material separate from promotional summaries, and date each version because program descriptions can change.
