Can an L-2 spouse train customers on the same tools as the principal?

THE DIRECT ANSWER

Assess the spouse’s own status and proposed work rather than borrowing the principal’s specialized-knowledge evidence.

Separate qualifications from permission

Eligible L-2 spouses are generally work-authorized incident to valid spousal status, supported by their own record. Unmarried children under 21 may qualify as dependants but do not obtain employment permission from L-2 child status. Familiarity with the technology is a different question from immigration authorization.

Record the accompanying family members' citizenship, relationship evidence, and intended work or study plans as with any other L-1B case, independent of how personally connected the assignment happens to be. Because dependent permissions derive from the principal's, the whole family reaches the same terminal date together, which is worth naming out loud rather than discovering when an extension is refused. If the spouse cannot teach on the intended date, have the employer identify another lawful delivery arrangement instead of assuming the principal’s classification covers the whole household. A launch-driven posting frequently runs longer than intended, and an extension is a fresh set of steps for every person holding permission through the principal, not an administrative renewal.
