A temporary project and Canadian residence do not remove TN’s citizenship requirement.
Identify the actual nationality
TN is available to Canadian or Mexican citizens, not every Canadian permanent resident. Use the applicant’s actual citizenship documents before relying on a professional licence or a short U.S. engagement. Neither fact supplies citizenship by implication.
Check profession and procedure independently
A forester still needs the listed degree or state or provincial licence and qualifying professional duties. Mexican citizens generally need a TN visa; Canadian citizens generally do not, while still needing to establish eligibility and admission. The work must be prearranged and entry temporary.
Do not apply the principal’s assumptions to the family
An eligible spouse or unmarried child under 21 may seek TD, which permits study but not employment. Record each person’s citizenship and travel documents separately. A short seasonal job offered to a spouse is not authorized merely because the principal’s assignment is temporary.
