How should a single-person Gold Card budget change when eligible family members will join?

THE DIRECT ANSWER

Add the official per-person amounts: US$15,000 processing and a US$1 million gift for each eligible joining spouse or child. The principal gift is US$1 million individually or US$2 million per corporate-sponsored employee, after successful vetting.

Separate added family costs from the original payment

The processing charge is nonrefundable under current official terms. Corporate arrangements also describe 1% annual maintenance and a 5% transfer fee including a new background check; additional visa-related or medical costs may apply. Verify instructions for the actual stage and family. Do not assume a sponsor’s relocation allowance or the principal’s larger corporate gift is a household-inclusive price.

The published process begins with an application and processing fee, followed by vetting; the gift is payable only after vetting succeeds, and only then does the applicant proceed through the immigrant-visa or adjustment steps that lead to permanent residence. Ordinary ancillary costs — legal fees, document preparation, translations — sit outside the programme's charges and are payable whatever the outcome, so they belong in the budget separately. Confirm the amounts and the structure on the official government page rather than in a brochure, a news article or an adviser's slide deck, because reported figures have drifted from published ones. No private invoice turns a nomination into an award or establishes immigration eligibility; the government commitments remain governed by the official terms.
