THE SHORT ANSWER

A hypothetical Spruce Grove industrial designer should connect a prototype with actual design responsibilities. An attractive finished sample may illustrate a product without establishing the applicant’s contribution or the complete proposed TN activity.

01

Identify the decisions behind the sample

Describe concept development, design choices and the applicant’s actual role in the work. Distinguish team contributions and ordinary manufacturing tasks. Do not imply that every hands-on activity is excluded, but do not use a portfolio to hide material responsibilities outside the proposed profession.

02

Document the listed qualification independently

Industrial Designer permits a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree, or a qualifying postsecondary diploma or certificate with three years of experience. Review the defined program and issuer conditions, not just the translated award name. Degrees from institutions outside Canada, Mexico and the United States require reliable foreign-credential evaluation. A portfolio does not replace these credential conditions.

03

Complete the professional arrangement review

Confirm Canadian or Mexican citizenship, prearranged professional work and temporary entry. Identify the U.S. or foreign employer and disclose any ownership or control of the U.S. receiving enterprise. Sole or controlling ownership constitutes prohibited TN self-employment; a nominal supervisor is not a cure. Keep the offer consistent with the real work before relying on a travel date.
