Read the general eligibility basics overview
A Spruce Grove resident may hold Canadian qualifications while remaining a citizen of another country. The TN review should identify citizenship actually held, rather than treating education or a professional designation as a nationality document.
State the present citizenship and residence separately
TN requires Canadian or Mexican citizenship; Canadian permanent residence alone does not meet that condition. A pending future grant and citizenship already existing by law but awaiting documentation are different situations. Explain the actual record instead of drawing a conclusion from a Canadian address or credential.
Give the qualification its proper role
A degree or professional designation can support the listed profession’s requirements if it meets the applicable route. It does not replace the citizenship condition. Conversely, qualifying citizenship does not prove that the proposed duties match a listed profession. Keep both questions visible in the employer’s hiring plan.
Assess alternatives without changing the facts
A genuine corporate transfer may support L-1 review, and a qualifying treaty-investor arrangement may support E-2 assessment. Neither follows automatically from TN being unavailable. Identify the actual organizations, employment or investment rather than using another label as a shortcut. Travel and work should follow the authorization actually obtained, not the recognition of a Canadian credential.
