The title alone does not establish the profession. Assess the actual engineering duties, the applicant’s listed qualification and the full proposed arrangement.
Explain responsibility for the result
Show what judgments and decisions the applicant makes and how the testing supports them. The Engineer entry uses a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree or state/provincial licence. Canadian or Mexican citizenship, temporary entry and permitted prearranged professional work remain necessary; neither a customer’s urgency nor technical equipment replaces those conditions.
The transcript request and the employer's rewritten letter are the slow items; a college may take weeks to issue official transcripts, and a distributor's human resources team may need time to name a supervising engineer and revise a title. The harder question in industrial contracting is often not the credential but the duties themselves: turnaround work can blend engineering analysis with field supervision, procurement coordination, and hands-on troubleshooting that looks more like a technologist role. Where a role genuinely sits between two listed professions, the answer is not to choose whichever sounds more favourable; each listed profession carries its own requirements, and the credential relied upon has to match the profession actually claimed rather than the general field.
