Do not assume that a separate donation replaces the published per-person family commitments or establishes anyone’s eligibility.
Identify the actual joining relatives and payments
The FAQ recommends initial inclusion of the eligible spouse and unmarried children under 21 who will join. Each adds US$15,000 and a US$1 million gift, including with corporate sponsorship. A recognition plaque listing the family is not an application record or proof of the required payments.
The correct approach is to read the current official programme provisions on family members, note whether additional amounts apply for each person, and confirm what status each family member would receive and what it would permit them to do. Each family member's own history—prior refusals, overstays, criminal records—is assessed, and the connected immigrant category carries its own eligibility conditions and depends on visa availability by country of chargeability. A prudent first review begins with the official programme material available on the decision date and a checklist of what it actually says about applicant eligibility, payment, vetting, family members, and the immigration category involved. An adviser engaged by the principal is not thereby acting for a spouse or an adult child, and interests can genuinely diverge where one person's history raises an admissibility question that would affect the timing of everyone else's case.
