Does a corporate family allowance mean every employee’s relatives are included?

THE DIRECT ANSWER

The employer’s benefit policy does not determine immigration eligibility. The official framework concerns an eligible spouse and unmarried children under 21.

Identify people before adding the totals

Each intended eligible joining family member adds US$15,000 processing and a US$1 million gift, including corporately, with initial inclusion recommended. A company may choose who funds those amounts, but cost-sharing does not change the terms. A parent, sibling or other relative does not qualify merely because the employer’s allowance uses a broad definition of family.

Record the change and seek the correct current instructions; do not invent a universal rule that everyone must withdraw together or that remaining family members automatically continue unaffected. Each person's folder holds their own identity and civil documents, the official instructions as published on the day that person acted, their vetting correspondence, their own payment receipts, and a short list of the relatives they intend to bring. An L-2 spouse is employment-authorised incident to status while a TD spouse is not; EB-5 derivatives receive conditional residence alongside the investor; dependent children in the nonimmigrant categories lose status at twenty-one. Determine whether the relationship is a valid marriage under the law governing its formation; shared residence, duration, finances, or Canadian benefit terminology cannot create spousal status by themselves.
