THE SHORT ANSWER

A Devon applicant should show which professional conclusions they will develop from the project data. A map can explain the subject without proving the applicant’s contribution or the full proposed duties.

01

Identify the analytical responsibility

Describe the geological questions and the decisions required to answer them. Attribute field data and interpretations to the people who actually produced them. The employer’s offer should account for material collection, mapping and other tasks rather than treating every activity associated with a geological project as the same professional function.

02

Select evidence with a clear purpose

An appropriate example can show how the applicant evaluates uncertainty or connects observations with conclusions. Explain its context, authorship and relevance to the proposed role. Do not claim that a familiar software tool proves professional status, or expose confidential project material unnecessarily. Records should support the actual work rather than a stronger fictional assignment.

03

Document the qualifying applicant

Geologist requires a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree; relevant foreign degrees from institutions outside Canada, Mexico and the United States need a reliable specialized evaluation. Establish Canadian or Mexican citizenship, temporary prearranged professional activity and the actual employer and recipient. A U.S. recipient solely owned or controlled by the applicant presents prohibited TN self-employment, which nominal supervision does not cure.

A CONVERSATION IS A GOOD PLACE TO START.
