They explain commercial arrangements, not the knowledge standard by themselves.
Use each record for its real purpose
Keep customer travel costs, employee pay and preparation expenses separate. Establish special organizational knowledge or advanced process knowledge through substantive evidence and the proposed duties. An expensive assignment does not automatically meet L-1B requirements.
Confirm the fourteen months are clean, assemble the knowledge record, obtain the corporate documents linking the Canadian company and the U.S. affiliate, then file Form I-129 with the fee-schedule amounts; premium processing is available. For an L-1B worker placed primarily at an unaffiliated worksite, the unaffiliated employer cannot principally control and supervise the worker, and the placement cannot be essentially an arrangement to provide labour for hire rather than to use the petitioner’s specialized knowledge. The predictable additional cost is evidentiary: offsite specialised-knowledge petitions are questioned often, and answering well means preparing the contracts, itinerary and knowledge evidence before filing rather than after.
