A professional licence can be relevant to a listed occupation without establishing the citizenship required for TN.
Identify citizenship separately from Canadian status
Canadian permanent residence or a Canadian licence does not make the holder a Canadian citizen. TN requires Canadian or Mexican citizenship. Record the actual nationality documents first rather than assuming professional recognition supplies immigration eligibility.
Then assess the listed profession
For Land Surveyor, the degree or listed state, provincial or federal licence is one part of the assessment. The offered work must be qualifying professional activity and entry temporary. Mexican citizens generally need a TN visa; Canadian citizens generally do not, while still needing to establish eligibility and admission.
Check the accompanying household individually
An eligible spouse or unmarried child under 21 may seek TD, which permits study but not work. Determine each person’s citizenship and actual document requirements separately. The principal’s professional licence does not decide a spouse’s travel documentation or work permission.
