Current capital is US$1,050,000, or US$800,000 for a qualifying TEA or infrastructure project; statutory adjustments begin January 1, 2027.
Use the amount applicable to the filing
Separate qualifying capital from legal, administrative and family costs. A joint account balance is not automatically the amount lawfully available and committed by the investor. Reconcile ownership and transfers before treating the balance as the completed investment.
Government fees for the investor petition, the immigrant visa or adjustment stage and the later removal-of-conditions petition, all in the USCIS fee schedule, plus professional fees for source-of-funds work, project due diligence and Canadian tax advice on the corporate payout. Money held in the investor's personal account against future expenses is not yet invested, and funds contributed but parked in the company's reserve with no business purpose invite the question whether they are actually at risk. Professional costs are substantial because the file is substantial: counsel to review the project documents, counsel for the immigration filings, and often an accountant or specialist to prepare the source and path of funds narrative with its exhibits.
