TD does not authorize employment. Related subject matter or payment from Canada does not itself permit work performed in the United States.
Assess the presentation work on its own facts
TD may cover an eligible spouse or unmarried child under 21 and permits study while maintained. It does not extend the principal’s professional work authorization to family members. Identify the spouse’s proposed customers, duties and location before relying on that income; professional presentation skills and informal family assistance are not separate work permission.
If the spouse intends to keep working remotely, including for an employer or family business based in the region, record that explicitly rather than assuming rural residence changes the analysis. Avoid encouraging a spouse to resign from current work or committing to a school year abroad based on this offer alone until independent supervision is documented and the arrangement looks presentable as qualifying employment rather than self-employment. A spouse who wants an income has to qualify independently: a college instructor spouse could hold a second TN with a second offer letter, and other listed professions such as accountant, registered nurse or physiotherapist each carry their own credential rule.
