Does a corporate acquisition automatically qualify the acquired company’s specialist for L-1B?

THE DIRECT ANSWER

No. The actual related-organization and employment history needs assessment, alongside the employee’s specialized knowledge and proposed U.S. work.

Separate two different propositions

An acquisition may change ownership without proving the required foreign-employment period or knowledge level. Identify the legal employers, effective transaction dates and actual duties. Do not treat the announcement date as closing or assume either that all pre-acquisition time qualifies or that it never can; the real facts require the applicable individual analysis.

The knowledge must be the company's, not the industry's: a skilled welder, a fluent programmer or a senior planner has general expertise unless the file shows that what they know is particular to how this group builds, sells or services something. An account-permission report may corroborate access, but L-1B requires a special grasp of the organization’s products or interests, or advanced command of procedures and processes belonging to that company—not ordinary occupational skill. L-1B covers special knowledge concerning the organization's products, services, research, equipment, techniques, management, or other interests, together with their international-market application; alternatively, it covers advanced knowledge of organizational processes and procedures.
