A company benefit commitment is separate from each relative’s actual eligibility and immigration record. It does not itself authorize a move or employment.
Translate the benefit into individual planning
An eligible spouse and unmarried children under 21 may seek L dependent status. Qualifying spouses may work incident to valid status with appropriate evidence, while children do not receive that permission. Identify what the relocation package pays and what immigration steps remain. Do not confuse a booked trip or company-funded housing with a spouse’s admission record.
A child admitted in L-2 may attend school full time, but that status carries no work authorisation, so paying them for translation would be employment they cannot lawfully accept, and the fact that the work supports a parent's petition changes nothing. A household planning around two incomes should understand that the second one carries the risk attached to the first, which is an argument for raising any change in the principal's employment promptly rather than treating it as an internal matter.
