Start with the GOLD CARD eligibility and application overview
Connect names through actual records
Identify when each name was used and the records supporting any change. Distinguish a spelling variation, transliteration and legal name change rather than treating them as interchangeable. Keep originals associated with the person they describe. Do not create a new document date simply to make older records match the current passport.
Respond to the request actually received
Use the official notice to determine which records and explanations are required. A preparer’s standard checklist does not establish that every historic document must be replaced. For a foreign-language document submitted to USCIS, provide a full English translation certified for accuracy, completeness and translator competence; do not invent a universal notarization rule.
Preserve the official terms and result
Current official terms are US$15,000 nonrefundable processing per person, followed after successful vetting and instructions by a US$1 million individual-principal gift or US$2 million per corporate-sponsored employee. Each intended eligible joining spouse or unmarried child under 21 adds US$15,000 and a US$1 million gift, including corporately; initial inclusion is recommended. Corporate terms include 1% annual maintenance and 5% transfer with a new background check; a replacement employee is not automatically approved. The EB-1 or EB-2 result remains subject to eligibility, admissibility and visa availability. The government gift is not an EB-5 investment promising a financial return. An identity explanation does not substitute for the remaining eligibility assessment.
Re-verify the official terms immediately before any money moves
The official program page sets out how applications and payments are made; verify it on the day of payment, because terms, amounts and procedures should be re-verified before any money moves. Successful applicants proceed through existing employment-based immigrant classifications, EB-1 or EB-2, which means the ordinary requirements of those classifications continue to matter. Do not assume that a private adviser or one partner has completed an official update without confirming the actual action. Retain official payment confirmations, dated program materials, and the exact instructions relied upon. Before payment, make a written distinction between the official government process, private advisory work, and the immigration category evidence. Anyone describing the payment as an investment, or comparing it to EB-5 as though the money behaves the same way, is describing something other than the official framework. Treat each listed family member as a separately funded commitment, and confirm the current official instructions before any payment because private summaries may omit conditions or changes. A sponsor, employer or bank can assist with logistics only after the payment source, applicant responsibility and official instructions are clear.
Follow the official payment sequence and individual amounts
The official FAQ describes a path toward permanent residence through EB-1 or EB-2 for successful applicants, with the gift made after vetting succeeds. Gold Card information should be treated with exceptional care and checked directly against the official programme material available at the time of action. A board or committee resolution authorises the expenditure, a signed sponsorship agreement sets out what the company undertakes and for whom, and a payment instruction with its bank confirmation records what actually moved and when. The official sequence runs from application and fee through vetting, the gift when instructed, and an EB-1 or EB-2 determination. Separate currency and private service costs from any official State Department visa and medical charges; a funded account does not itself grant residence, US work permission or a promised completion date. Paying does not waive a ground of inadmissibility, and the program does not convert money into status. Do not treat a promotional package or a consultant's invoice as proof that any official stage has occurred. The payment must follow the official official payment instruction; paying a seller, employer, or intermediary for a separate commercial arrangement is not the Gold Card payment.
