Budget for the work the business needs
Identify genuine execution capacity and the manager’s responsibilities before committing to staffing costs. Consider personnel, premises and documentary preparation as separate budget lines. The immigration question is the substance of the proposed role, not a purchased headcount appearance.
The costs that surprise small family groups are the preparation costs rather than the fees: obtaining current share registers and beneficial ownership documents, preparing financial statements that may not exist in the form required, and assembling several years of payroll history. Ask counsel to quote the eligibility assessment, petition preparation, premium processing if wanted, the extension petition in year one, and any response to a request for evidence as separate items, because a new-office case is more likely than an established-office case to draw questions. What money cannot buy is any of the four elements: the relationship between the entities, one continuous year of qualifying employment abroad inside the previous three years, duties that are primarily managerial or executive, and time remaining under the seven-year cap.
