THE SHORT ANSWER

A hypothetical Leduc technical writer should connect work samples with the proposed assignment. A manual can demonstrate technical content without establishing the applicant’s contribution, full duty set or qualification.

01

Describe the document and the applicant’s contribution

Identify the technical subject, intended user and responsibility for researching, writing or revising the publication. Distinguish source engineering material and other contributors’ work. Explain any marketing or sales duties in the real offer rather than assuming all writing for the same product falls within the same profession.

02

Apply the listed education and experience route

Technical Publications Writer permits a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree, or a qualifying postsecondary diploma or certificate with three years of experience. The diploma concerns at least two years at an accredited postsecondary institution in Canada or the United States; the certificate route has defined Mexican program and issuer conditions. A short course does not become a qualifying program because it concerns writing. Degrees from institutions outside Canada, Mexico and the United States require reliable foreign-credential evaluation.

03

Identify the actual professional arrangement

Confirm Canadian or Mexican citizenship, prearranged qualifying work and temporary entry. The employer may be U.S. or foreign. Services to a U.S. entity solely owned or controlled by the applicant constitute prohibited TN self-employment; an editor assigned to supervise does not cure that issue. A foreign business interest alone is not an automatic bar. Keep the offer and samples consistent with the actual recipient and work.
