Read the general eligibility basics overview
A Leduc permanent resident of Canada may have a prospective U.S. writing assignment and a separate citizenship process. Identify citizenship actually held before making the work plan depend on a hoped-for grant or document date.
Separate current citizenship from a future expectation
TN requires Canadian or Mexican citizenship. Canadian permanent residence alone does not meet that condition. If the applicant already has Mexican citizenship, assess that actual fact rather than assuming Canadian citizenship is the only possible basis. Citizenship already held but requiring proof is different from a future grant; establish the real situation without guessing from a residence card.
Keep the employer’s timetable conditional on the facts
A publication deadline or signed offer does not accelerate or complete a citizenship process. Do not describe expected citizenship as acquired in an application plan. Review the listed profession, credentials and temporary professional arrangement separately so that resolving nationality is not mistaken for establishing the whole TN case.
Assess a genuine alternative rather than relabelling the same offer
A qualifying L-1 transfer or an appropriate E-2 arrangement may warrant separate review if its actual conditions exist. Neither follows automatically from TN being unavailable at the planned time. Identify the real employer relationships, foreign employment, treaty nationality or investment before promising another route. A family-dependent classification also has its own limits and should not be treated as permission to begin the proposed writing work.
